The human behind the pieces

THE STUDIO

Slowing down

I make everything in a small studio in Berlin. My work draws on Peruvian, Japanese and Chinese ceramics, traditions I keep learning from every time I sit at the wheel.

If clay taught me one thing, it is patience. A wheel can't be rushed. Clay remembers every impatient movement, and every step needs time: to wedge, to throw, to fire twice. I also write code, and it asks for the same thing. Both show you exactly where you hurried.

So I take my time with every piece. I shape it, paint it by hand, and think about how it will feel in your hands and where it will live in your day. Whatever you take home is the only one exactly like it.
